About Tri-State

Tim’s story

Tim began his career as a Chartered Accountant (NZ), working in corporate and strategy consulting life and in a wide range of industries in several countries around the world.

In 2003, Tim’s life changed forever when he suffered from intestinal volvulus (when the intestines twist around themselves). He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and required 90% of his intestines to be removed.

Tim remained in and out of hospital for 12 years, as he also then suffered kidney failure, living a life on intravenous nutrition and kidney dialysis. As he continued to lose condition and feeding line access was running out, he was put on a transplant recipient list.

It wasn’t until 2015 when Tim’s luck changed. He became the first ever Australian to receive a small intestine and kidney transplant, which ultimately saved his life.

After recovering he saw establishing a mortgage broking business as a great way to build on his skills of finance, investments, property, and what he enjoyed most: Helping people.

Tri-State’s mission

Tim saw his miraculous recovery as a sign to give back.

In 2016, Tim set up two mortgage broking businesses, Tri-State Finance (formerly Finalytics Financial), and Finance4Nurses.

During this time in hospital, he was deeply moved by all the work and life saving work of nurses in Australia. He also developed expertise in getting great finance outcomes for Nurses all across the country.

Tri-State reflects his and the team’s financial knowledge of a wide range of client industries and their ability to handle complex client situations.

Sydney law firm partner

Situation: Sydney-based law firm partner with a law firm in the UK. He needed finance to buy Australian property using British pounds, but needed a preapproval of $2.5 million with a small deposit.

Solution: We negotiated a competitive interest rate with a “Big 4” lender, 0.32% less than originally quoted. LMI was waived up to 90% LVR, with only a 10% deposit. Loan was approved in two business days, and no overseas employment verification was required.
